What happens to the money?
We use sponsorships to help cover your animal’s basic expenses, like food and shelter. (Currently, we pay $100 per month per pig to board them at another sanctuary while we’re building their forever home here.)
If sponsorships exceed your animal’s basic expenses, we use the surplus to build their new shelter or fund a savings account for possible medical emergencies.
Why do you allow multiple sponsors per animal?
We want loving and caring for animals to be a community effort, so we try keep the sponsorship rate low so that everyone who wants to participate is able to. Because of this, the sponsorship rate is lower than each animal’s basic expenses.
Can I purchase something special for my sponsor animal?
Yes! If you’d like to purchase extra straw, snacks, or toys for your sponsor animal, send us an email (at gigharboranimalsanctuary@gmail.com) or DM us on Instagram and we can help facilitate this for you (and send you a photo of your animal loving your gift).
